#1 in a series of Blogs from Pull Digital on the role of video in online marketing.
Optimising video is the easiest way to get a first-page organic ranking on Google: Videos are 53 times more likely than traditional web pages to receive an organic first-page ranking. Google has started blending video into search results and online video content can be optimized to take advantage of ‘blended search’. Take these steps to have the best chance of Google including your video in blended results:
Write keyword-rich captions and annotations for each video. Insert keywords into your video filenames.
Create an online video library, this way Google will know where to find your video content.
Host your videos on YouTube and embed those YouTube videos into your own site. Nearly every video Google blends into its results comes from YouTube. In addition to this, Google says its algorithms consider how many times a video is viewed. Any views embedded videos receive on your own site get added to the 'views' tally on YouTube.
In our next Blog on video we will look at the obstacles to creating video content and how to overcome them.
