Add Page Bookmark Functionality To A Kentico CMS Site In A Jiffy

Seen on many Web sites, the "Bookmark Page" link, where you can add an entry to your browser's bookmarks of the Web page you are looking at in just two mouse clicks.

Bookmark page link

The JavaScript code from this site did a nice job (cross browser): http://www.mykeblack.com/scripts/javascript/bookmarks/add-to-favorites-bookmark-page-script

Paste it into Kentico CMS with a wrapping JavaScript tag as shown below.

<script language="javascript" type="text/javascript">
(Insert “bookmarkPage” function)
</script>

We placed it just before the end of the </body> tag in the Master page.

Kentico CMS - Master page editor - inserting bookmark JavaScript code

On the Master page or wherever you need to insert a clickable "Bookmark Page" link, utilise the above code like so:

<a href="javascript:bookmarkPage()">Bookmark Page</a>

By adding directly into the Master page or via an HTML editable Web part (however your site is made).

Click on the link ("Bookmark Page") as would be rendered by the <a href...></a> HTML and voila!
