Welcome to Pull Digital's technology blog Syntax*.

Need to work with a Kentico CMS 6.0 site you don’t know?

Pull Digital has developed a tool, currently in beta, that gives a bird’s eye view into Web part/Widget usage on a Kentico CMS 6.0 site, going as far as to tell you where you can find the Web part(s)/Widget(s) - pretty quickly. And if you want to be sure you are dealing with the right Web part/Widget, you have a URL to look at.
Called “Site Insight” (V 1.0), to reflect the benefit of the tool, we use it:
To keep track of Web part usage/site build (auditing):
- We may need to remind ourselves of what Kentico CMS 6.0 features are in use

To find out if any custom Web parts were developed and where to see them:
- Useful knowledge if upgrading a site and the code written is made obsolete by changes in the Kentico CMS API

In case of need to modify a Web part setting pretty quickly:
- To find out where in the CMS to access the Web part for configuration change purposes

Plus, to do the above faster than by looking through the site in the CMS Desk, not really knowing where to go or what to look for – unless you built the site!

In general: a great documentation & productivity tool.
